The latest on the NFL’s Week 16 game between the Patriots and Steelers
The NFL on Thursday announced it will allow the Patriots to play in the AFC Championship Game this weekend against the Steelers.
The league said Thursday it will be “in full compliance” with the ruling by the NFLPA, which would make it the first major pro sports league to ban players from participating in games when they have been suspended from the game.
The NFL said in a statement it would allow the game to go on.
The Patriots are scheduled to play the Pittsburgh Steelers at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.
The Steelers defeated the Patriots in the last meeting.
The decision comes amid mounting pressure on the league to implement a policy of preventing players from engaging in protests during the playing of the national anthem.
